I myself am one of those artists who said hey let me go get a sweet camera cuz I can finance it, and now it has become my obsession. I love taking pictures of everything. It doesn't matter what it is. It could be as important as my family or as insignificant as a piece of lint!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This is true, but it is also worth a thousand memories and a million feelings. It captures this one moment in time and keeps it sacred for an eternity or so. In a way, it's the closest we can get to time travel at this time.
About a year ago I took this photo:
I have no idea who these people are. I was in Niagara falls snapping pictures of random people and when I was going through my photos later on, I came across this beautiful moment that these two were having. Sometimes I wish I could find out who they were, just to send them this pick.
I also took this picture:
So I find myself going to random places because I want to take pictures. In this instant, I spent Saturday morning at the Butterfly Conservatory. I caught this butterfly in mid flight. To a lot of people this would just be a picture of a bug flying off of a flower, but for me I see a lot more. I know for myself it is very easy to wonder what is wonderful about life sometimes. Stress takes over, self doubt rears it ugly head and it's impossible to notice the small pleasures in life. Yet, with a picture like this always on my laptop, it can remind me that the world we live in is frickin awesome. Nature kicks ass and is so pleased by it's simplicity.
These were moments in time that I would never have noticed, but because I was looking through the eyes of a camera, I didn't end up missing out. It makes me think that if we used our eyes like the lens of a great camera, what moments we would capture in our minds.
